‘DODGE CITY’ HEADS
RETURN BILL

Two famed action films de-
scribing the early days of a pair
of western pioneer towns come
back today for a return engage-
ment at the .................. Theatre.
They are Warner Bros.’ “Vir-
ginia City” and “Dodge City.”
Both star Errol Flynn in typical
dashing roles.

“Virginia City” is the story of
three rugged men of the saddle,
a beautiful girl and five million
dollars in gold. Flynn, Hum-
phrey Bogart, Randolph Scott
and Miriam Hopkins perform in
the lead roles, with a supporting
east of hundreds headed by Alan
Hale guaranteeing the Warner
tradition for smash-packed west-
ern epics.

As the quick-triggered sheriff
of “Dodge City,” Flynn, to-
gether with Olivia DeHavilland
represent the law-enforcing ele-
ment as opposed to Ann Sheri-
dan, Bruce Cabot and Victor
Jory in the roles of dance hall
queen and desperadoes.

in Two Westerns

Errol Flynn is the hard-hit-
ting, hard-riding hero of War-
ner Bros.’ two great outdoor
epics, “Virginia City” and
“Dodge City,” lawless haven for
western badmen. Both return on
eset for a special showing at
the 2.422 Theatre.

Brought back by demand of
the action fans, these two films
were among the first in the field
of class westerns which today are
thrilling moviegoers everywhere.

In “Virginia City,” Flynn is a
Union officer during the Civil
War on the trail of gold-smug-
glers. As the sheriff of “Dodge
City,” he sets out to rid the town
of its lawless element.

two great outdoor dramas,
“Dodge City” and “Virginia

quite by accident.

When studio executives en-
route from New York to the
Coast by train some years back
were held up at Dodge City by
huge drifts of snow and ice, they
were invited to spend a few days
in town. So impressed with the
picturesque surroundings and
background of the Kansas town,
the movie men decided to create
a film story of the city during
the brawling, turbulent era of
the 1870’s.

Immediately upon their arrival
in Hollywood, production plans
went into action, with Errol
Flynn, Olivia DeHavilland and
Ann Sheridan in starring roles.
The success of ‘Dodge City” led
to the making of “Virginia City,”
another rugged epic of America’s
pioneer towns.

Humphrey Bogart fans will
